stripes ... 89/365

stripes ...
/straɪp/ –noun
a relatively long, narrow band of a different color, appearance, weave, material, or nature from the rest of a surface or thing

... stripes ... that i don't really want to get much closer to ... but i want my camera lens to get closer to there ... any (relatively less expensive) suggestions for a nikon d50?

If you get the chance to get closer - Handler present take the risk, it is worth it. I even found out that my legs are not strong enough to support a 500 pound Tigress when she put both paws on my shoulder and used the roughest tomgue in creation to strip layers of skin off my face, (While licking me) MY Favourite memory of all time but gosh was she heavy.

Wouldn't wish to detract from your gorgeous shot. . . but, I had an adventure that involved a tiger once. I managed a professional building. In the building was a ballroom and a photographer's studio - among many other things. One day, the studio contacted me and my late DH telling us that she had just photographed a tiger. The tiger was not agreeable to go back to his vehicle/cage. She asked that we close down the avenue so they could get the vehicle up to the doorway to the annex next to the ballroom. Of course, after I arranged to have those things closed off, my late DH and I wanted to see the tiger. We crept around the ballroom so as not to disturb the animal, and peeked around the corner. The handler had the tiger on a leash standing by the studio doorway. Man! That beautiful animal was HUGE!! Just knowing we were on the same level with the animal without any protection between us was enough for an adrenaline rush! If the cat had decided we were to be his lunch, the handler could not have held him back. He simply did not have the ability to change the cat's mind. We retreated rather quickly, with our hearts still in our throats! It took the handler a while to convince the cat to go back into his vehicle/cage. All in a day's work managing a professional building. (whew!)
